Oral and maxillofacial surgery specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases, injuries, defects and aesthetic conditions of the teeth, mouth, jaws and face.
WHAT IT COVERS?
Maxillofacial or oral surgery covers:
- Removal of impacted teeth, such as impacted wisdom teeth, in just a few minutes and with minimum inconvenience for the patient.
- Exposure of impacted teeth, so that the orthodontist may return them to their proper position and they may become functional and useful.
- Removal of cysts and other benign lesions from the jawbones and the soft tissue in the mouth.
- Restoration of upper and lower jaw deficiency with suitable transplants, so that conventional prosthetic teeth or dental implants may be placed on the area, immediately restoring chewing and speech.
- Treatment of acute & chronic inflammations/infections in the oral and maxillofacial region (abscesses, tooth-related sinusitis, bisphosphonate-induced or radiation osteonecrosis, etc), either conservatively or surgically.
- Diagnosis & treatment of injuries in the head, face, jaws, mouth or teeth.
